Yoga For Seasons of Loss

Feelings of loss can come about for various reasons. Some significant, some a little less so but still enough to take us off our flow. These emotions are so powerful we can often feel them very tangibly within our physical body. Sleeplessness, a feeling of heaviness, loss of appetite, episodes of crying, tension in our muscles, a feeling of soreness when we logically haven't done anything to cause it and also this undeniable feeling that the world around us is moving in slow motion.
Physically, loss or grief can become overwhelming. There are many yoga practices that will offer meditative practices for this where you sit with the feelings while others look at them as barriers to "break" through with pounding of the feet and punching of the air. How a practice resonates with you is a personal experience. I found for myself, that I needed a practice that allowed me to feel but also to move rhythmically THROUGH what I was feeling in my body. One that didn't take a lot of effort and I could close my eyes but still kept my attention to become fully present and embodied. All while offering very practical ways to support the body through myofascial release, flow and grounding.
I'm offering this as my gift to anyone who is walking through this season. This class is also appropriate for anyone dealing with pain in the body which can also hold it's own space for grief as we look back on the things we used to be able to do.
Grief is not a linear process, it will ebb and flow so please remember to show yourself grace, compassion and remember to come back to this practice as often as you need to whether that's everyday or every once in a while.
You'll need: 2 blocks, 2 tennis/myofascial balls, a yoga blanket or beach towel and if you have it, a bolster.
