Bilateral Resistance
Banded Yoga Resistance

19m
All the exercises in today's banded yoga resistance class will focus on bilateral movement, meaning working both sides at the same time. This is in lieu of working individual sides. The reason for a whole class dedicated to that is a measure to support students who may be experiencing pain that is one sided which can become exacerbated by one sided movement due to it's reliance on anti-rotation muscle engagement. When we work one side, there's a whole group of muscles that have to engage to keep the torso forward and the pelvis level and when we work both sides, we take that bit out. This can be very helpful for things like SI Joint pain, sciatica, or other one side dominant discomfort.
You'll need: two blocks, loops and if you have it - grab a pilates ball
