Yoga for Bladder Health

Yoga for Bladder Health

We understand that when there is restriction, it causes dysfunction. Bladder health is no different. When everything else has been ruled out, like infections or TRUE interstitial cystitis, it might be time to make an appt with a Pelvic PT and have an evaluation done to see if it's something physical (as opposed to pathological or inflammatory.) If you don't have the ability to do that, then yoga can offer us some exploratory work to find out for ourselves.

Tension in the low back, hips and pelvic floor can cause restriction and pain in the anatomy of the urinary system. Nerve impingement, like that of the Pudendal nerve, can also cause unwanted symptoms in many ways.

I created a playlsit of classes that specifically address the structures related to bladder health and I also included my favorite hypertonic pelvic floor classes.
Remember, where there is tension, there is weakness in most cases. And where there is weakness, there is often tension. So we addressed it from all angles: activation, mobility and lengthening. If you are at the beginning of your journey and you haven't done the breath work and you are more hypertonic - please do that first before you start to do more engagement. Then, when you do engaement - start slow - see how it lands - and progress from there.
